I don't know what I was thinking... but I just agreed to be on a marathon relay team. Yes, me: the girl who has never run more than 5 miles. The girl who never even WATCHED a marathon, much less thought about participating in one.
I'll give you a moment to let all that sink in.
I was asked to join three of my coworkers (who are all on-air). They wanted to form a station team so they could promote it on our news beforehand.
1/4 of a marathon is about 6 1/2 miles. The race is 5 1/2 weeks from now. Phew. Looks like I need to start running more. Like... NOW.

Hey, that is cool. A little bit more than a 10K and *only* twice a 5K - and you know you can do that. You can do it!!! :) I think you will have fun, too.
What were you thinking? I know you can do it.
You'll definately have fun. I recommend you rent the movie "Spirit of the Marathon", if that doesn't get you in the spirit, nothing will. ;-)
You know you can so do it and kick butt in the process :) Have fun!
That is GREAT! I know that you can totally do it. What section would you do? The last section will have lots of walking people, so I'm sure that you'll get to pass a bunch, but the first two sections will have lots of people to run with that will help you tackle the miles. Decisions.... I’d probably do the 2nd section. That way you still have lots of people running around you, but you don’t have SOO many people that you have to dodge them – I really hate that.
It is going to be so much fun, I can already tell. You did 3 miles this past weekend, just do 4 next weekend, 5 and then 6 (and then taper back down). With 2 milers on T,W,Th. Done and done. :)
Are you going to get to be on air? I think that you should be. If so you have to post the YouTube.
Oh, and if you do watch "Spirit of the Marathon", fast forward through the first part where they talk about the first guy who ran one dying and show pictures of people staggering to the finish line.
That is awesome, kudos to you for signing aboard! You'll love it. I'd give anything to get my co-workers to join in on anything that involves fitness. Lazy WI people drive me nuts!
Good luck-you'll be great!
Way to go! You are going to love the relay - all the excitement of a marathon, but you don't have to be quite ready for the huge committment! Get to running - you can do it!
I agree with Joja - go rent Spirit of the Marathon and you'll be out there doing two of those relay segments.
Ahhh.. Rockford, the home of Cheap Trick ! Wondering if they will be the honorary guest or marshall at the Rockford Marathon.
CHEAP TRICK RULES !!!
That is so cool that you will be part of the relay team!!
Totally doable. You'll rock it.
