Really?
That's IT?!
Oh boy. I better start pushing it harder.
Last week was a rough one on me. I used my cold as an excuse not to workout. I went 6 days without doing anything. I haven't run in 2 weeks (I haven't swam since June). What?! I'm just trying to be honest here!
On Saturday, instead of working out, Ryan and I went to the zoo.
I met some goats...
And I got to feed a giraffe...
It was a lovely day, but no training. So Sunday morning, I skipped church and went for a 9 1/2 mile bike ride. I'm still absolutely loving my new cycling shoes. Clipping in is getting easier with practice.
Yesterday, I was dressed with my helmet, bike shoes, and IPod on. The moment I walked outside, the skies opened (despite what Weather.com said) and it began pouring (lightning and thunder included).
I know if the race was tomorrow, I'd be okay. I would finish just fine. But I want to be BETTER than just okay! I want to be great. And I want to beat my Dad this time!
Tonight, I'll go to the Y and swim. Even though it's been a month since I've swam, I can't hold back. I need to go further than race-distance. Overly-ambitious? Perhaps. Necessary? Yes.

You go Girl! Remember you can swim at Higgins Lake!
Rock on!!! Glad to hear you're getting better with the clipless pedals! :)
Goats are so damn cute!! Love the zoo-especially penguins, my favorites!
18 days, wow, it's coming fast! Mine is exactly 30 days and counting!
I kind of know how you feel being gone for 10 days. But I did run some (3+ miles 3 times) and a stationary bike. You know what, you just motivated me to stop at the Y on the way home and then go for a 3+ mile run after that. See you at the lake on Friday night.
What the heck is that goat eating in your hand!? Looks like a piece of paper or something.
Walking around the zoo should totally count as training, right?
We all need a break every now and then. Jump back in to your training and you'll be no worse for wear. Now GO!
Great job with the clipless pedals!! Well, 18 days is not much but you can get a little bit done. I'm sure you'll end up feeling better prepared if you do, too! How was the Y?
oh going to the zoo counts as exercise--totally!
